Most of our guests drive up from Brisbane, and the trip is part of the appeal. It is far enough to feel like a holiday (the Glass House Mountains rise up beside the highway on the way) and close enough that a two-night weekend works without a day lost to travel. You can leave the city after work on Friday, turn off the Bruce Highway at Beerwah, and be at the farm gate in time to meet the animals before dinner.
The farm itself is a working hobby farm on a hillside at Peachester, 20 minutes from Maleny. Everything is yours to use: the paddocks and their rescued and hand-raised animals, the orchard of mangoes and citrus, the organic kitchen garden, the creek. Each stay is fully self-contained, so you cook your own meals, light your own fire and see nobody else unless you want to. Kids run free; adults sit on the veranda.
It is also a good base for the things Brisbane people drive up for anyway: Australia Zoo is 15 minutes away, the Glass House Mountains lookouts about the same, Maleny and Montville 20 to 30 minutes, and the beaches at Caloundra about 35 minutes.
